Monday : blows, screams and jazz

Let’s have a trip into a grandpa’s jazz record, one coming from UK jamaican born musician, admirable self made flautist and saxophonist named Harold Mc Nair.

Sometime Charles Mingus side-man, sometime composer, also for scores, despite the fact that none of his recording are available in CD, he’s recognized for his virtuosity at the flute, here’s a testimony with this track named The Hipster.

Singing in his flute, blowing a note and vibrate another one in harmony… Listen to this shouting air blows, notes screaming in the chaos, rushed by the bouncing rythmic, a repetitive piano sttuttering into the wandering of a free musical pattern, enough to take along the 60’s London jazz club, where some inspirations are still waiting to be revealed.

Lundi : souffles, cris et jazz

Petit tour dans le jazz à papa, celui d’un anglais d’origine jamaïcaine ayant vécu à Londres, admirable flûtiste autodidacte et saxophoniste nommé Harold Mc Nair.

À l’occasion side-man de Mingus ou compositeur, aussi pour les écrans, malgré qu’aucun enregistrement de ses albums n’existes en CD, il est reconnu pour sa virtuosité à la flûte, en voici un aperçu avec ce titre The Hipster.

Chantant dans sa flûte, soufflant une note et faisant vibrer une autre en harmonie… Écoutez ces cris doublé de souffle, ces hurlements de notes chaotiquement bousculées de toute part par une rythmique sautillante, un piano répétitif et bégayant dans les errements d’une grille libre, suffisante à emmener du coté de Londres dans les années 60, dans les standards là où dorment encore certaines inspirations.
